The Bell’Arte Singers are directed by Dr. Margot Rejskind.
Dr. Rejskind serves on the faculty of the Royal Conservatory of
Music in Toronto, where she is a member of the Choral and Voice
Faculties. She received both her Doctorate in Music Arts (Choral) and Master
of Music (Choral) from the University of Illinois, and attained her Bachelor
of Fine Arts (Vocal Performance) degree from Concordia University in
Montreal.
Dr. Rejskind has directed choirs of all types, in both the US and
Canada; currently she directs The
Men of Note, a male voice choir based in Stouffville, Ontario, and
also serves as Choir Director at Melville Presbyterian Church in West
Hill, Ontario. Dr Rejskind now resides in Toronto with her partner
Dick, and their two cats.
The Bell’Arte Singers are pleased to welcome Dr. Yun as guest conductor for
the May 2010 concert.
Dr. Gerard Yun is a conductor, composer, global music scholar and
performer. Originally from the United States, he served as Director of
Choral Studies at Georgetown University in Washington, DC and
Professor of Choir and Voice at Southern Utah University before
joining his family in Canada. Since landing in Canada, he has served
on the faculties of Wilfrid Laurier University, McMaster University
and the University of Waterloo teaching courses in music education,
conducting, choral and global musics.
As a professional conductor he has held posts with the Rochester
Philharmonic Orchestra, the Colorado Youth Symphony Orchestras, the
Hamilton Childrens Choir, and the Colorado Lyric Theatre Festival. He
guest conducts internationally and is currently in demand as a
conductor and clinician across North America. In Canada he appeared as
the keynote for the Ontario Vocal Festival’s 9th Annual Choral
Conductor’s Symposium, guest conductor of the Waterloo Choral
Festival, and as clinician for the Ontario Vocal Festival and
Soundstreams Canada.
He is a student of Helmuth Rilling (Bach Academy Stuttgart),
Canadian-born conductor Dr. Donald Kendrick (California State
University), Dr. Lynn Whitten (University of Colorado), and Yoshio
Kurahashi of Kyoto, Japan.
